The Housing Laboratory, another structuring program of the Platform for Architectural Creation, is a watch on experimentation and questioning in the field of housing. In the wake of the exemplary operation of the transformation of the Bois-le-Prêtre tower in Paris by Lacaton & Vassal and Frédéric Druot, it is a question of reporting on the vitality of experiments in the field of housing, despite the weight of the French normative context.
At a time of "eco-neighbourhoods" and positive energy buildings, the Housing Laboratory analyses the most prospective projects in terms of major issues such as density, co-existence and urbanity. Each season, the questions raised by the selected operations are discussed within the framework of meetings with stakeholders, theoreticians and practitioners of the housing factory, and with building owners, developers and social landlords.
